Believe it or not, it’s almost time for pumpkins and ghosts! Walt Disney World is getting real close to celebrating the spooky season and guests are in for lots of treats and a few surprises as well.

Disney has announced that Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party will return this year! Unlike last year, this year’s events should have more of the “normal” experience which includes the parade, fireworks, non-distanced meets, and stage show.

The event runs from August 12 through October 31. For those of you keeping track, that is really just a couple of short weeks away!

The Headless Horseman will ride his ghostly steed down Main Street, U.S.A. as a prelude to “Mickey’s Boo-To-You Halloween Parade,” which features floats filled with Disney Characters dressed in their Halloween best, Disney villains and the Haunted Mansion graveyard diggers.

The Sanderson Sisters can be seen during the “Hocus Pocus Villain Spelltacular” stage show at Cinderella Castle as they call upon their frightening colleagues to conjure the ultimate “Hocus Pocus” Party Potion. Also be on the lookout for many more characters ready to greet guests throughout the event.

Overlays themed for the occasion will return to several popular Magic Kingdom attractions: Space Mountain, Mad Tea Party, Pirates of the Caribbean and Monsters, Inc. Laugh Floor.

Now, take a moment and try to think back to before 2020, in other words “pre-covid”. Can you remember any special characters you might have run into while in the queue?

One of the popular themed overlays was for Pirates of the Caribbean, which we are expecting to see this year.

Be on the lookout for Gunpowder Pete or other costumed pirates in the queue or hanging out in certain scenes as you set sail for your pirate adventure!

It was not uncommon to see a costumed real pirate or a few pirates seen in certain scenes or inside of the queue. For those that may remember, this was often seen during Halloween parties or After Hours events, so this is exciting to see that something like this is returning! Look for him or other pirates in the cellar area of the queue or in the bridge.

Are you planning to attend Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party this year? Will you be keeping an eye out for pirates in the Pirates of the Caribbean? Tell us about your plans in the comments below or on our Facebook page.
