“Yo ho, yo ho, a pirate’s life for me!” See how one Disney fan plans to turn our favorite Disney attraction into an epic birthday ride challenge.
Give Kids the World Village
After temporarily closing in 2020, Give Kids The World Village reopened in January 2021. In case you’re not familiar with Give Kids the World Village, it’s an 89-acre non-profit resort in Central Florida. The resort provides week-long, cost-free wish vacations to critically ill children and their families from around the world. Check out a touching Give Kids the World Village story HERE.
When wish-granting organizations, like Make-A-Wish, receive a request from a critically ill child who wants to visit Disney World, Give Kids the World (GKTW) is the organization that provides these wishes.
Give Kids The World Village is one of the recent Disney grant recipients and a crucial part of the Wish Granting efforts here at Walt Disney World Resort. It provides a place for Wish families to create priceless memories together.
For the past two years, Give Kids the World Village hosted “Night of a Million Lights.” Now that Give Kids the World Village has returned to full capacity, they have discontinued the event for this year. There is still a great way to donate to this wonderful organization.
Previous Ride Challenges
What is your favorite way to spend your birthday? Steven Amos, Give Kids the World Vice-President of Advancement, has a very unique birthday tradition. For the third year, Amos will participate in a ride challenge to benefit Give Kids the World Village. Starting in 2020, he started this tradition by riding “it’s a small world” as many times as he could in one day.
In 2021, Amos moved to EPCOT and joined Figment on “Journey into Imagination.” On this one day, he was able to ride “Journey into Imagination” 35 times. That is right, he endured the stinky skunk smell chamber 35 times! He admitted that the queue line for this attraction became a bit more congested mid-day slowing down his ride frequency. Amos raised $11,000 for Give Kids the World Village for this ride challenge.
Epic Ride Challenge
This year, Amos has an even greater challenge. Pirates of the Caribbean is a favorite of the Kenny the Pirate Crew and many Walt Disney World guests as well. Amos shares, “I was looking for something a tad more challenging than the past two years. The biggest variable is the chance of getting wet on the drop and the pirate ship scene.”
On August 6, 2022, consider donating to Give Kids the World as Steven Amos completes an epic ride challenge. See how many times he can ride Pirates of the Caribbean in 11 hours.
This 11-hour ride challenge on Saturday, August 6, 2022, will be the longest ride challenge that Amos has participated in. Thanks to Magic Kingdom remaining open until 11:00 pm this evening.
We can’t wait to see how many rides Amos will be able to complete. You can easily donate to Give Kids the World for this epic ride challenge through Facebook or directly to Give Kids the World. 100% of the money raised will go directly to Give Kids the World.
