Current Refurbishments
Nobody really likes to hear that their favorite attraction will be under refurbishment during their trip. Attractions, buildings, and even sidewalks need to be maintained. Refurbishments help the parks run smoothly. Almost every trip you take, you are bound to run into some type of refurbishment.
As the Disney Parks remain open year-round, refurbishments are a part of life at Disney theme parks around the world. It’s not uncommon for at least one attraction or location to be closed at any given time.
Currently, work is taking place right along Main Street, USA. Soon refurbishments will be underway at Disney’s Hollywood Studios for Frozen Sing-Along Celebration. Another refurbishment is soon scheduled for Disney’s Animal Kingdom as well.
Now a new refurbishment is scheduled for Magic Kingdom.
Magic Kingdom Refurbishment
The Liberty Square Riverboat offers a relaxing 17-minute trip around Tom Sawyer Island. During the ride, hear stories of American Author Mark Twain’s time in Mississippi while taking in the sights of Liberty Square and Frontierland.
In October 2020, the Liberty Square Riverboat and Tom Sawyer Island underwent a lengthy refurbishment. It was set to reopen in January 2021 but was later extended even longer.
The Liberty Square Riverboat will soon undergo another refurbishment. This refurbishment will begin on August 22, 2022, and at this time extend until September 1, 2022. Liberty Square Riverboat will once again welcome guests on September 2, 2022.

We are thankful that this attraction will be closed only briefly for this refurbishment. During this refurbishment, Tom Sawyer Island will stay open to guests.
