Disney Announces a Brand New Feature Length Animated Film

Calling all Walt Disney Animation Studios fans! Here is a first look at an all-new feature-length animated Disney movie!

It’s D23 weekend, and Disney is unfurling a bevy of announcements. This means Disney fans can delight in information pertaining to what’s on the horizon for Disney Parks and Disney Entertainment!

Be sure to follow along with us, as this entire weekend is sure to flood you with Disney news! News surrounding Pixar including a new sequel and a new movie and news surrounding live-action movies already hit. We got updates for the Haunted Mansion movie and for Season 33 of Simpsons. And now we have another HUGE movie announcement!

Wish

Walt Disney Animation Studios took to D23 to reveal a FIRST LOOK at Wish! (Don’t confuse it with the Disney Wish from Disney Cuise Line, of coure). In this case, Wish is an all-new animated feature-length film!

This new feature sets out to explore the charming story behind how the wishing star came to be. At its center is a girl called Asha who, desperate to save her home, turns to the stars themselves. It is a concept that seems perfect for a film from Disney Animation Studios. It looks absolutely lovely based on the sole snip of animation teased on social media.

Who is Involved in the Film

According to @DisneyD23, the film will star Ariana DeBose, who you may remember made a little bit of movie history when she won an Oscar for her work as Anita in Westside Story. In Wish, she will play Asha, the film’s protagonist. Additionally, actor Alan Tudyk will lend his voice to a goat named Valentino.

Wish will receive direction from Chris Buck & Fawn Veerasunthorn, who also teamed up to bring you Frozen. Peter Del Vecho & Juan Pablo Reyes serve as the film’s producers. Additionally, it features songs from Julia Michaels including one called “More of Us.”

When Can Audiences Expect to See this Movie?

Disney’s Wish will have its theatrical release in just over a year. You can expect to see it in theatres in November of 2023. Perhaps we will see it debut just in time for the holiday season!
