The Splash Mountain reboot is going to happen soon. We have some amazing new details for this retheme fresh out of D23.
Splash Mountain Retheme
Unless you have been out of the Disney loop for a long time, you probably know by now that Disney announced a Splash Mountain retheme. This major announcement first came back in June of 2020. As a result, we know that the iconic attraction will retire its Song of the South theming and animal animatronics.
Tiana’s Bayou Adventure
The new theming will be Disney’s Princess and the Frog. Once it is completed, the attraction will begin where the film leaves off; with the final kiss. We’ll join Princess Tiana and her trumpet-playing alligator friend Louis “on a musical adventure.”
Disney did share some concept art for the attraction. They also shared some artwork for the attraction! In the latest 2D concept art preview, you can see Tiana, Naveen, and Louis in their boats traveling along the bayou.
D23 also brought us the brand new 3D model depicting the exterior of the attraction. You can see it here.
New Ambiance Details
At D23, the team announced that they want the retheme to feel like a love letter to New Orleans. There are some special new effects coming to achieve that.
We found out earlier in the weekend that the water would glow. But, now we know the ambiance goes beyond the water! The attraction will also have special lighting.
Casting Details
We also found out that the original cast of Princess and the Frog will return to reprise their parts for the voice work for the attraction.
- Bruno Campos: Prince Naveen
- Anika Noni Rose: Princess Tiana
- Jennifer Lewis: Mama Odie
- Michael Leon Wolley: Louis
