A long-awaited expansion now has an opening timeline. Check out this exciting new update for EPCOT.
EPCOT Transformation
In September 2019, Disney announced several projects for Epcot. This ultimately led to a complete overhaul of the park.
We have seen several of those projects completed, including Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure and Space 220, the reimagining of Mouse Gears (into Creations Shop) and Club Cool, and overhauling the park’s entrance. Two of the largest undertakings are the opening of Guardians of Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind and the new eatery Connections Cafe.
The newly reimagined EPCOT will soon be completed in 2023.

Walt the Dreamer
When Epcot’s reimagining was first announced, part of the announcement brought us concept art for a new statue at the entrance. You can read all about the original announcement here.
According to Disney Parks Blog, “As part of the historic transformation of EPCOT, teams have been reimagining the front of the park and the entry experience for guests. In the future, there will be a new location near Spaceship Earth called Dreamers Point with a spectacular view of the park.”
Last year, we saw a glimpse of this new statue, but now we can see it in true form. This new statue will be called “Walt the Dreamer.” The featured plaque states, “Walt Disney said that EPCOT should always be in a state of becoming. He wanted to create a space that inspires people to keep dreaming of the future and celebrate the magic of possibility.”
Dreamers Point Opening Timeline
“When our new statue finds its home in the neighborhood of World Celebration, we hope that it inspires this global community to always keep dreaming of a better tomorrow.” Be sure to check out the amazing detail of this new statue HERE.
The Walt Disney World website shares, “Explore lush gardens, listen to stirring musical performances, and delight in festival fun at Dreamers Point. Here, you’ll also discover a statue of Walt Disney—a reminder for us all to dream big.”
“Dreamers Point is scheduled to open in World Celebration, the EPCOT neighborhood offering experiences to connect us to one another—and to our world.”
We now know that this statue and Dreamers Point will open to guests in Late 2023.
We were hoping that this statue may be a part of EPCOT’s 40th Anniversary on October 1st, but now we know we will be waiting quite a bit longer.
