Check out the latest tropical storm information, including a multi-county cyclone advisory just issued. See how this impacts Disney World.
Tropical Storm Ian
Late last week, we began covering Tropical Storm Ian and its potential impact on Disney World. It has the potential to intensify TD9 into a Major Hurricane (Category 3 or stronger) as it approaches Florida. Right now, Florida is projected to be hit by TD9 on Tuesday or Wednesday with hurricane-force winds and heavy rainfall.
Florida Governor Ron DeSantis issued a State of Emergency – first for 24 counties – and then the entire state.
“THIS STORM HAS THE POTENTIAL TO STRENGTHEN INTO A MAJOR HURRICANE AND WE ENCOURAGE ALL FLORIDIANS TO MAKE THEIR PREPARATIONS. WE ARE COORDINATING WITH ALL STATE AND LOCAL GOVERNMENT PARTNERS TO TRACK POTENTIAL IMPACTS OF THIS STORM.”
Ron DeSantis, Governor of Florida
Disney is Taking Precautions
Earlier today, Disney issued a letter telling select guests staying at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Lodge to contact them to relocate. Check out the details HERE.
As another precaution, Disney World no longer offers resort availability starting today, September 26th, through Thursday, September 29th. Disney Resort reservations are once again available starting on Friday, September 30th.
