Hurricane Ian
Recently, we began covering Tropical Storm Ian and its potential impact on Disney World. It is expected to intensify into a Major Hurricane (Category 3 or stronger) as it approaches Florida.
Right now, Florida is projected to be hit by Wednesday with hurricane-force winds and heavy rainfall. Disney issued a statement late Saturday night that they are operating under normal conditions. You can read that full statement HERE. Earlier we shared that Fort Wilderness issued a warning to guests with current reservations. Check this out HERE.
In preparation for Hurricane Ian, Walt Disney World no longer offers resort availability. Check out the affected dates HERE. Earlier Disney announced cancellations for select resorts and special experiences. Be sure to check these out HERE.
Transportation Closures
The Skyliner is a magical way to start a day at EPCOT or Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Skyliner stations are at Art of Animation Resort, Pop Century Resort, Riviera Resort, and the main hub at Caribbean Beach.
The Skyliner is closed due to extreme weather. In preparation for high winds starting tomorrow, the Skyliner is now closed to all guests. Additional buses will be available at the Skyliner Resorts to allow Guests transportation to both Hollywood Studios and EPCOT.
UPDATE: The Skyliner did reopen later this evening on Monday, September 26th. With thunderstoms expected tomorrow and inclement weather in the coming days, the Skyliner will inevitably experience downtime this week.
Earlier today, Test Track closed for inclement weather. Guests that currently have made a Lighting Lane for this attraction with Disney Genie+ are given a Guest Experience pass to use on another attraction.
The Skyliner will be closed for inclement weather. Additional buses will be available at the Skyliner Resorts to allow Guests transportation to both Hollywood Studios and EPCOT.
It appears that Test Track will reopen as the weather has passed. At this time Walt Disney World has not announced closures at the four Theme Parks or any Attractions.
Even more cancellations and closures are expected in the coming days. At this time, Walt Disney World Resort Cast Members are hard at work making preparations for Hurricane Ian.
