Late last week, we began our coverage of Hurricane Ian. It has officially hit Florida and the Orlando area, and Disney World has been taking precautions for the last few days in preparation. First, the parks and Disney Springs were closed yesterday and again today.

Second, new resort reservations are halted until October 3, and Disney is going above and beyond for those Guests riding out the storm on property. Meal kits and special activities are helping Guests feel at ease during the hurricane.

Earlier Walt Disney World issued an official statement in regards to the devastation of Hurricane Ian and later shared that they plan to reopen tomorrow. At the time this announcement was made, no park hours were stated. We still await what this “phased reopening” may look like for guests.

With weather conditions improving this evening, Walt Disney World now prepares to welcome guests in the parks and at Disney Springs tomorrow.

This afternoon, Walt Disney World cast members were notified that select shifts will need to report to work by 9:00 pm tonight, September 29th. This will allow time for the 3rd shift cast members to begin preparing the parks for guests to enter tomorrow.

At this time we still await news as to what this “phased reopening” will look like. Many other theme parks in the Orlando area will remain closed tomorrow. We pray safety for all cast members returning to work this evening.
