Guests hoping to stay at a Disney World Resort may find it impossible to do so. Disney World has extended the pause on new resort reservations.
Hurricane Ian
Late last week, we began our coverage of Hurricane Ian. It has officially hit Florida and the Orlando area, and Disney World has been taking precautions for the last few days in preparation. First, the parks and Disney Springs were closed yesterday and again today. They may be closed again tomorrow.
Second, new resort reservations are halted for the time being, and Disney is going above and beyond for those Guests riding out the storm on property. Meal kits and special activities are helping Guests feel at ease during the hurricane. You can see some photos and videos of the damage sustained on property HERE. Additionally, the Orlando Airport continues to remain closed due to flooding.
Resort restrictions
Earlier this week, we shared that the Disney World Parks will be closed on both Wednesday, September 28th, and Thursday, September 29th. At this time Walt Disney World is set to reopen on Friday, September 30th.
Previously we shared that in preparation for Hurricane Ian, Walt Disney World is no longer offering resort availability for this week. Originally, they would reopen on September 30.
However, the restriction was extended through October 1st. And once again, Disney is pushing back availability through October 2.
Guests may now find availability at Disney Resorts starting on October 3, as long as no other extensions occur. We pray for all guests visiting Walt Disney World and those living in the path of Hurricane Ian.
Disney World Resort reservations remain unavailable through October 2. They are expected to resume on October 3.
