As Hurricane Ian hit Orlando last night, Walt Disney World now issues a statement.
Hurricane Ian
Late last week, we began our coverage of Hurricane Ian. It has officially hit Florida and the Orlando area, and Disney World has been taking precautions for the last few days in preparation. First, the parks and Disney Springs were closed yesterday and again today. They may be closed again tomorrow.
Second, new resort reservations are halted for the time being, and Disney is going above and beyond for those Guests riding out the storm on property. Meal kits and special activities are helping Guests feel at ease during the hurricane.
This morning we shared that this Walt Disney World location will remain closed today. We also shared updates on storm damage across the property and also additional delays for the Orlando International Airport.
Walt Disney World issues a Statement
As storm damage is still being surveyed and the reopening of the Disney Parks is still in question, Walt Disney World issues a statement in regards to Hurricane Ian.
“We are thinking of our neighbors across Florida. We will get through this together and will be there to help our cast members and community.”
“As we keep safety in mind, our theme parks and other operating areas remain closed today while crews assess the impact of the storm and clear debris. Thank you to all our cast members who continue to care for the thousands of guests currently staying at our Disney Resort hotels.”
