As guests celebrate EPCOT’s 40th Anniversary, huge lines are forming not for ceremonies or attractions. Check out the current lines and find out what everyone is waiting for.
EPCOT’s 40th Anniversary
On October 1, 1982, Card Walker dedicated the second park in Walt Disney World, saying, “May EPCOT Center entertain, inform, and inspire, and above all may it instill a new sense of belief and pride in man’s ability to shape a world that offers hope to people everywhere in the world.” Since then, EPCOT has invited guests to journey around the world, the depths of the sea, and to galaxies beyond belief!
In preparation for this celebration, EPCOT shared new delicious menu items, great new merchandise, and a special D23 Gold Member event that sold out within the hour tickets were available! This is quite the celebration, but the thing that is drawing the most crowds may surprise you.
Long Lines at EPCOT
Some guests today entered EPCOT and grabbed their commemorative maps and either made their way for special 40th food, a favorite attraction, or for the special ceremony. Other guests made a much different plan. There is a HUGE crowd forming to purchase EPCOT 40th anniversary merch.
The same line markers that are used at attractions to easily show where the queue line actually starts are now in place for guests waiting in line to enter the Creations Shop at EPCOT. The queue to enter the Creations Shop currently begins at the Living Seas.
This queue extends through World Nature and into World Celebration to eventually allow guests to enter the Creations Shop. At this time, Cast Members are notifying guests joining the queue that this is roughly a 4-hour wait.

For Walt Disney World’s 50th anniversary they offered virtual queues to shop for merchandise. It is puzzling why this was not in place for EPCOT’s 40th Anniversary merchandise today.
