The attraction is not accepting Guests at the moment.

Closed Attractions

It’s not uncommon for various attractions to close during any given day at Disney World. This may be due to a refurbishment, weather technical or mechanical issues, or some other safety concern.

This can certainly cause wait times to increase if an attraction is not operating as normal. Not to mention, it can be disappointing for Guests who have spent months planning their vacations only to get there and not be able to ride what they were hoping to.

Extended Downtime

Guests visiting Epcot today, October 11, are met with this message on My Disney Experience:

On behalf of the entire team at EPCOT, I’d like to apologize that Spaceship Earth is currently unavailable. Our Cast Members are working diligently to get the attraction up and running again, and we are sorry you are not able to experience this attraction at this time. I hope you will enjoy some of our other attractions during your experience in the park today.

It is signed by Kartika S Rodriguez, the Vice President of Epcot.

Usually when these notifications pop up, we know that the closure is an extensive one. It is not simply a ride that is temporarily closed due to weather or small issue that needs fixed.

Indeed, this is definitely a more complex and extended closure. As a result, Disney Cast Members are turning Guests away who are hoping to ride Spaceship Earth. You can also see in the photos that there is no current Lightning Lane time or standby wait available.

Hopefully Disney can get Spaceship Earth back up and running so Guests can continue to thank the Phoenicians!
