We have a debut date for MagicBand+ plus more information about what you can expect when you use them!
Using MagicBand+ across Disney theme parks
MagicBand+ debuted at Disney World this past summer. Unfortunately, Guests on the West Coast have been waiting, literally forever, to receive MagicBand capabilities at the Disneyland Resort.
Now that Disneyland is finally getting MagicBand services (more on that in just a second), you may be wondering if you can use your MagicBand+ at both Disney World and Disneyland.
The answer is: yes! Guests who have purchased MagicBand+ at Disney World, Disneyland, and shopDisney can use them at any of the theme parks in the United States. However, Disneyland only has MagicBand+ capabilities. This means you cannot use previous versions of MagicBand here.
Debut Date
Beginning October 26, Guests can use their MagicBand+ at Disneyland to enter the gates, scan at attractions, and interact with entertainment. You can also use it to link PhotoPass photos to your account.
However, if you are a DVC Member, Magic Key holder, or Cast Member you can use it even earlier! Starting October 19, select merchandise locations around the Disneyland Resort will have MagicBand+ available for purchase with the presentation of a valid photo ID plus a valid company-issued ID, Disney Vacation Club membership or Magic Key pass. From there, you’ll be able to set up your band and try it out in the parks (valid park admission and reservation required)!
MagicBand+ debuts at Disneyland on October 26. Select Guests can access it earlier on October 19.
A Magic Key band will be available for Magic Key holders for $44.99. There is a $10 discount plus you can use your merchandise discount! That is a pretty great savings!
Interacting with Entertainment
Just like at Disney World, Disneyland will allow MagicBand+ users to interact with entertainment like “Believe…in Holiday Magic” and “World of Color – Seasons of Light.” Once the 100th anniversary of The Walt Disney Company begins, MagicBand+ will interact with those special shows as well.
Certain attractions and shows will also interact with MagicBand+. For example, your band may light up when Spider-Man takes flight in Avengers Campus and it will sync to show sequences in Fantasmic! How fun!
Just like at Disney World, Bounty Hunter will also launch in Galaxy’s Edge when MagicBand+ debuts. At Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge in Disneyland, you’ll be able to use MagicBand+ to seek virtual bounties hidden across Black Spire Outpost in the Star Wars: Batuu Bounty Hunters interactive quest. Then, when you find your bounty, you can use the Play Disney Parks app’s augmented reality thermal viewer to reveal who’s hiding in the shadows.
You can read more about that experience in this post.
We are excited to finally have MagicBand+ at Disneyland! Are you? Let us know in the comments below and on Facebook.
