Fans have long wanted a show that involved the attractions of Disney Theme Parks. Documentaries are all well and good, but how amazing would it be to have a drama or fantasy series based on our favorite attractions?
Never heard of Society of Explorers and Adventurers? Had no idea that a special group connected your favorite Disney attractions together? Enter Society of Explorers and Adventurers.
The premise of Society of Explorers and Adventurers is that characters, lands, and attractions all mesh together to tell a story taking place in another universe. It helps streamline all the backstories that Disney superfans have been following!
S.E.A. Projects
Disney released a book earlier this year, and Ron Moore is reportedly working with Disney+ to develop a series franchise based on this alternate universe. It has been quite some time since we have heard anything else about it, but another project is currently in the works.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, Ryan Reynolds is teaming up with Qui Nguyen, the writer and co-director of Disney’s upcoming animated feature, Strange World, to adapt the company’s Society of Explorers and Adventurers theme park attraction as a film.
Reynolds is set to produce the film while Nguyen will write the live-action feature. The film will be different from Moore’s version in that Moore’s project is set in the Magic Kingdom. According to the insiders, Nguyen’s take pursues alternative angles to SEA mythology in present day by adding a new supernatural element to the history and following new characters not present in the original SEA lore.
The hope is for this film to be the start of a franchise, kind of like the Marvel Universe. At this time, we do not have any further details, but we will keep you updated! This is sure to be fun for fans of Disney theme parks.
