If you are heading to Walt Disney World today, you might want to be prepared for this attraction closure.
Closures
It is not uncommon for an attraction to experience a lot of downtime throughout the course of the day. Sometimes it’s a technical issue that needs resolved or the weather forces rides to close. We frequently see bad weather close almost all the outdoor attractions at all four theme parks. These are particularly common in the summer months.
Attraction closures are never something you want to see when you are on vacation, but they do happen. When they do, it is always good to be prepared. Try to have alternative plans during your day in case one of your favorite attractions is closed.
Space Mountain
Disney Guests all around the world have loved Space Mountain since 1975. It first opened in Magic Kingdom followed by Disneyland in 1977. The attraction then came to Tokyo Disneyland in 1983 and Disneyland Paris in 1995.
Finally, Hong Kong opened its version of Space Mountain 2005. The only park that does not have a Space Mountain is Shanghai. Although each version is a bit different, the love Guests have for this thrill ride is all the same!
Space Mountain Closed
Today, guests visiting the Magic Kingdom received a push notification in My Disney Experience from Melissa Valiquette, Vice President, Magic Kingdom Park. It said the following:
“On behalf of the entire team at Magic Kingdom Park, I’d like to apologize that Space Mountain is currently unavailable. Our Cast Members are working diligently to get the attraction up and running again, and we are sorry you are not able to experience this attraction at this time. I hope you will enjoy some of our other attractions during your experience in the park today.”
Space Mountain at Disney’s Magic Kingdom is temporarily closed today.
No update regarding when the attraction will reopen has been given, but Lightning Lanes for Disney Genie+ are available beginning at 2:35 pm today. This could change depending on how long the attraction is closed.
We hope Space Mountain is up and running soon! Until then, try and be prepared for longer lines than usual throughout the park due to the closure.
