Disney Prepares for Storms
In September, Walt Disney World was greatly affected by Hurricane Ian. Walt Disney World closed for two days as Hurricane Ian made its course toward the Walt Disney World Resort. There was a phased reopening for the Disney Parks and some attractions had delayed reopenings due to possible complications from the storm.
Hurricane season extends through November, and we were hopeful that the turbulent weather was behind us. Last Friday, we shared that a new Tropical Storm was forming. “Nicole is forecast to be a large storm, and regardless of its exact path, widespread impacts from a prolonged period of coastal flooding and tropical-storm-force winds.” You can read more about this update HERE.
Tropical Storm Watch
Early this morning, a Tropical Storm watch is in place for the northwestern Bahamas. It was possible for additional storm watches to be in place for other parts of the Bahamas and the coast of Florida.
Now the National Weather Service has issued a Tropical Storm Watch for Orange and Osceola Counties. This storm watch now includes Walt Disney World Resort. Storm watches indicate that high winds can be possible in this area within 48 hours.
At this time high winds of 25-40 mph and heavy rainfall are predicted this Wednesday and Thursday. Walt Disney World has not made an official announcement or altered operational plans at this time.
Now the National Weather Service has issued a Tropical Storm Watch for Orange and Osceola Counties.
