100 Years of Wonder Celebration
From humble beginnings as a cartoon studio in the 1920s to its name in the entertainment industry today, The Walt Disney Company proudly continues its legacy of creating world-class stories and experiences for every member of the family.
During D23’s Expo event, we found out when some of the festivities would kick off. You can read about that HERE. Disney 100 Years of Wonder will be the largest cross-company global celebration in the 100-year history of The Walt Disney Company. Disney Parks around the world will celebrate the 100th anniversary, with the heart of the celebration at Disneyland Resort.
The 100-year celebration will officially kick off on January 27, 2023, with special limited-time offerings taking place throughout the resort all year long. Take a look at the most recent updates regarding the celebration HERE.
Triumphant Return
As many Disney fans may recall, Walt Disney and his team of animators created Oswald the Lucky Rabbit before they created Mickey Mouse. In a not-so-magical turn of fate, Walt Disney lost the rights to Oswald the Lucky Rabbit and it appeared that all was lost. Herein enters our hero Mickey Mouse to save the Walt Disney Company.
In 2006, Bob Iger made a deal with NBC Universal that exchanged Al Michaels, the sportscaster, for the rights of Oswald the Lucky Rabbit. After this exchange, Oswald the Lucky Rabbit returned to the Disney Parks and Disney merchandise. “For the first time in forever,” we now can see Oswald the Lucky Rabbit in an animated short.
Today the Disney Animation Studio released a long-anticipated return of Oswald the Lucky Rabbit. This all-new hand-drawn short is the first time Oswald the Lucky Rabbit stars in a short in over 94 years. This is such a great way to start this celebration with Oswald the Lucky Rabbit. Check out the short below:
It is so great to see Oswald the Lucky Rabbit return in this fun animation. We hope that he will be present throughout this 100 Years of Wonder celebration in 2023.
