Minnie Vans are one option for getting around Disney World property. This small update may make a huge difference for some.
What is a Minnie Van?
How does one get a Minnie Van? Disney partnered with Lyft so you have the option to choose one in the Lyft app. They are desirable due to the fact that they are driven by Cast Members and includes two child seats if needed.
Disney halted its paid rideshare service when the parks reopened in July 2020. These stylish, yet overpriced to many, polka dot vans moved Guests around property and back and forth to the Orlando International Airport.
However, with many of the health and safety protocols essentially nonexistent, many began to wonder when this service may resume. Service resumed in the summer of 2022. Select Guests can even use them for airport transfer, which you can read about in this post.
Update
Though a small update, this may be huge for some people. Now, anyone can order an accessible Minnie Van. Guests do not need to use the vehicle’s accessibility functions in order to book a ride in an Accessible Minnie Van.
Now, anyone can order an accessible Minnie Van.
Here’s How to Order:
- Open the Lyft app within Walt Disney World Resort, and enter your destination.
- Confirm your pickup location and tap “Select Access. Minnie Van” (short for “Accessible Minnie Van”). If Accessible Minnie Van service doesn’t immediately display, scroll through vehicle type options until it appears.
- Track your vehicle’s progress on a map provided by the app. You’ll see the vehicle number to help you spot your car.
Accessible Minnie Vans include the following:
- Seating for 5 people
- One complimentary car seat (which can be used by one of the 5 passengers)
- 2 spaces for mobility devices (Guests may remain in their mobility devices for the duration of the ride)
There is a maximum capacity of 7 Guests per Accessible Minnie Van.
This update may be beneficial for those who need more space or need certain accommodations that did not previously qualify for an accessible van. What do you think of this change? Let us know in the comments below and share this post with a friend.
