Getting around Walt Disney World will be a bit more challenging now that one option is now closed. Find out the full details and best alternative routes before your next trip.
Disney Transportation
There are many differing opinions on transportation options, largely depending upon which Disney Resort you are staying at and also which Park you will be visiting. The Walt Disney World Resort is HUGE and many questions revolve around which is the quickest mode of transportation to arrive at each Park.
From the Skyliner, buses, ferry boats, and of course the monorail there are many options for Resort Guests to arrive at each of the Walt Disney World Parks. Choosing the fastest and most efficient form of transportation is key to a peaceful visit. You can see a full review of each form of Disney transportation HERE.
Walking Path Closed
Guests staying at select Walt Disney World Resorts may find walking as their best form of transportation to select parks. Guests staying at the beautiful Grand Floridian can enjoy a short walk to enter the Magic Kingdom.
Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa received a walking path of its own. The Grand Floridian Walkway stretches approximately .7 miles between the resort hotel and the Magic Kingdom. Most guests can complete the walk in about 15 minutes or less. This is a great option if the monorail and boat transportation lines are long.
Unfortunately, construction is now taking place affecting this walkway. Due to this construction, this walkway from the Grand Floridian to Magic Kingdom will close starting on February 13, 2023.
This closure is due to the refurbishment of both guest rooms and buildings at this resort. Disney announces that it is “expected to reopen later this spring”, but no exact timeline is given. Guests staying at this resort will still be able to access both the monorail and boat transportation during this closure.
Due to this construction, this walkway from the Grand Floridian to Magic Kingdom will close starting on February 13th.
Will be staying at the Grand Floridian during this timeframe? Do you enjoy taking the walking path to Magic Kingdom from this resort? How will this affect your upcoming trip? Share your thoughts with us in the comments below.
