Heading to Disney World during the Disney100 celebration? Be on the lookout for fun monthly themes!
Disney100
From humble beginnings as a cartoon studio in the 1920s to its name in the entertainment industry today, The Walt Disney Company proudly continues its legacy of creating world-class stories and experiences for every member of the family.
Disney 100 Years of Wonder will be the largest cross-company global celebration in the 100-year history of The Walt Disney Company. Disney Parks around the world will celebrate the 100th anniversary, with the heart of the celebration at Disneyland Resort.
Coming to Disney World
Disneyland opened Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway and the newly re-designed ToonTown, but what about Disney World? Disney World is on the tail end of its 50th anniversary, so it makes sense that most of the focus would be on Disneyland.
However, Disney World will still participate in the celebrations! In fact, Epcot will be home to Disney100 at Disney World.
Epcot will debut a brand new nighttime spectacular and character meet and greet with Figment later this fall. Plus, Communicore Plaza will open with Mickey Mouse and friends meet and greet opportunities as well. By the sounds of it, they will be meeting in their platinum Disney100 costumes!
The Journey of Water Moana attraction will also open this fall along with Dreamer’s Point. It makes perfect sense for Disney World to use Epcot for this monumental celebration.
Monthly Themes
However, Disney is not waiting around for later this year to begin the celebrations! Starting next month, we can take part in the fun at Disney World. Here are some of the Disney stories that will be celebrated in the coming months:
- April: Honoring Disney’s conservation efforts and celebrating the 25th Anniversary of Disney’s Animal Kingdom
- May: All things from a galaxy far, far away will be featured with an emphasis on Star Wars
- June: The delightful Pixar characters will take fun to infinity and beyond
- July: Mickey, Minie, and friends will provide “swell fun” for all
- August: The Disney Princesses and beloved Frozen characters take the throne
- September: Super Hero adventures take flight
