As Walt Disney once said, “We keep moving forward, opening new doors, and doing new things because we’re curious and curiosity keeps leading us down new paths.” Disney Parks are in a constant state of motion and development. This is true with the new addition of TRON in Tomorrowland at Magic Kingdom.

This is also true over at Frontierland with the closure of Splash Mountain. Back in June 2020, Disney announced that a major reimagining of Splash Mountain would happen. This attraction, based on the controversial 1946 film Song Of the South, has been a fan favorite since it debuted in 1989.

The attraction will begin where the film leaves off; with the final kiss.  We’ll join Princess Tiana and her trumpet-playing alligator friend Louis “on a musical adventure.” Work is steady as this new attraction takes shape. Check out details for the new water tower that will be coming soon HERE.

Guests walking right down the middle of Main Street, USA at Magic Kingdom will now see an unwelcoming image. Guests can now spy a large crane that is now used in Frontierland.

Many Disney fans noticed with the concept art for Tiana’s Bayou Adventure that the top of Splash Mountain would be changed. The Imagineers were quite creative with the top of Splash Mountain and from a distance, it looked like the profile of Brer’ Rabbit.

Work is now taking place to alter the top of this mountain to go with the theme of this being a “salt mine.” This will forever change the landscape of Frontierland.

With progress comes a price. Guests will continue to see many changes in the coming months as this new attraction takes shape.

Works is now taking place to alter the top of Splash Mountain as it transforms into Tiana’s Bayou Adventure.

What do you think of the large crane being seen from Main Street? Are you excited about this new attraction? Were you hoping that much of the exterior of Splash Mountain would remain the same? Share your thoughts with us in the comments.
