If you are traveling to or from Disney World today, you need to know about this big issue.
Southwest Airlines
Southwest Airlines has a very loyal fan following (despite recent issues), and part of that is due to the customer-friendly policies that set it apart from other airlines and its low prices. For example, they allow passengers to bring along 2 carry-on items and provide complimentary checked luggage.
They also have nonstop flights to Orlando, Florida from many destinations across the country. Southwest is also experimenting with new procedures to shorten traveling time and is investing in technology and operations after the winter meltdown.
Unfortunately, Southwest Airlines is experiencing some major issues today, April 18.
Departing Flights
Southwest Airlines is halting all departing flights nationwide due to technical issues. There are not a lot of details on what the issue is exactly, but they did release a statement:
“Technical errors are unexpected and inconvenient for all. And you, have our sincere apologies. Updates will be communicated when the site is fully functional. Please continue to hang in there with us.”
When asked for a statement, the FAA said: “Southwest has requested that we pause all the airlines’ departures.”
