We all understand that work must be done at Disney Parks from time to time. The Disney Parks are open year-round and work is often done while the guests will be least affected.

Earlier we shared that a refurbishment is scheduled for Disney’s Animal Kingdom’s favorite play area this summer. And this week, road work will create closures around the Walt Disney World Resort.

Now guests visiting Magic Kingdom will experience a less-than-magical sight.

For 18 months, Walt Disney World celebrated its 50th Anniversary. With the celebration officially ending at the end of March, many changes started to happen on April 1st. A refurbishment recently took place along Main Street, USA to remove 50th Anniversary embellishments.

On Cinderella Castle, the large 50th Anniversary medallion was removed fairly quickly. Disney shared that the current color scheme will remain for Cinderella Castle, but many decorative elements will be removed.

Recently, we shared that the moat surrounding Cinderella Castle is drained. This seems to help with removing these decorations, but this isn’t the only unsightly change for Cinderella Castle.

Many guests love to take photos on the back side of the castle from Fantasyland. This offers gorgeous views and great photos as well. This morning, construction walls were put in place to the left of the castle next to Sir Mickey’s. The good news is that Sir Mickey’s is still open and accessible to guests.

This morning, construction walls were put in place to the left of the castle next to Sir Mickey’s.

This is not only an eye sore, but will also create a bit of a traffic jam as guests make their way through Fantasyland. At this time the assumption is that this is simply to remove 50th Anniversary decorations. Disney has not shared how long these walls will remain.

What do you think of this refurbishment? Do you like the current castle color scheme? Will this affect your upcoming trip to the Magic Kingdom? Share your thoughts in the comment section and share this news with a fellow Disney pal.
