As things heat up in Florida more lawmakers want to take a stand against Disney. Find out why lawmakers look to remove “No-Fly Zones” at Disney Parks.
Tensions in Florida
The past year has been turbulent between the state of Florida and The Walt Disney Company. The problem began when Florida passed the Parental Rights in Education Law in 2022.
Disney’s then CEO, Bob Chapek, denounced the bill which started an avalanche of problems between Florida governor, Ron DeSantis, and the Walt Disney Company. This has led to many heated debates. DeSantis announced his plans to void the contract between the Central Florida Tourism Oversight Board (previously Reedy Creek Improvement District) and Disney World.
Now, everything will be passed through the State Legislature. Back in April, Disney filed a lawsuit against DeSantis to protect guests, Cast Members, and local development partners.
Politicians are divided on their stand for or against Disney. Recently, one Senator passed a law to entice large businesses like Disney to move to their state with Mickey’s Freedom Restoration Act. While another Congressman looks to make changes against the Walt Disney Company. The real question is, who is really in jeopardy if this bill is passed?
Bill to Remove No-Fly Zones
Back in 2022 (when the conflict first began between Governor DeSantis and the Walt Disney Company), Congressman Troy E. Nehls of Texas proposed the Airline’s Independent of Restrictions (AIR) Act. This is an effort to remove the two no-fly zones over Disneyland and Walt Disney World.
Most no-fly zones are in locations with high security or hazardous regions. Disney is the only theme park that benefits from this restriction. Some feel that this is simply to prevent disruptive aircraft while others feel that this is for the safety of all guests.
Last week Congressman Nehls stated that he was proud to reintroduce this bill. Nehls states, “Theme parks like Disney should not receive special treatment just because they are well-connected. Our national security should not be compromised to fit the needs of one corporation.”
Nels continues, “The federal government should not grant special privileges and pick favorites for powerful well-connected companies like Disney. Measures designed to protect our national security and public safety should not be co-opted by corporations looking to gain.”
This bill is cosponsored by Reps. Lauren Boebert (R-CO), Andrew Clyde (R-GA), Doug LaMalfa (R-CA), Scott Perry (R-FL), Gregory Steube (R-FL), and Mo Brooks (R-AL).
“The federal government should not grant special privileges and pick favorites for powerful well-connected companies like Disney.“

I always feel safer knowing it's a no fly zone. Things today are so out of control, you never know what someone could do. It could be devastating. Clearly this shows they don't care at all about the safety of people..families and children at that.i really feel that he has serious metal issues.
