Is this attraction closed or not?
Refurbishments
Refurbishment is a dreaded word for Disney fans who will soon be visiting Disney Parks. In theory, we all understand that refurbishments are a necessary part of keeping each Park magical.

The Boneyard
The Boneyard is a great space for young paleontologists to go and explore in a fun interactive play yard. It’s one of the best play places we have encountered at Disney World.
This attraction is located in Dinoland USA, and quite honestly this part of Disney’s Animal Kingdom seems to be at risk of becoming extinct. The “headliner” attraction closed in this land and only a handful of smaller attractions and carnival games remain.
A world of prehistoric marvels awaits! Kids ages 10 and under are invited to clamber across rope bridges, climb through mysterious caves and hurl down twisting slides. At the dig site, help excavate fossils from a Triceratops and a Tyrannosaurus Rex. Discover lots more dino-sized surprises as you have a blast digging up the past.
Parents of busy explorers can enjoy a shaded seating area at the dig site, where large fans help cool things down.
Refurbishment
The Boneyard closed on May 1 and is expected to reopen in mid-June. You can read Donna’s full story on this refurbishment news HERE.
As many families plan to head to Walt Disney World for summer vacations, it is important to keep these refurbishments in mind while making your touring plans. This news could be a bit disappointing if you are a family that likes to let the kids burn some energy and allows the parents to take a much-needed rest.
However, this morning we noticed that The Boneyard is not actually completely closed. While the slides and bridges ARE closed, the dig site is open. We are unsure if this will remain open for the length of the refurbishment.
If your little explorer wants to excavate some fossils during your upcoming trip, this is good news! Hopefully parts of the attraction will remain open throughout the closure to allow families to enjoy it.
The dig site at The Boneyard is still open during the refurbishment.
