What do you think of this big step for Disney’s streaming platform?

At this point, Disney+ really needs no introduction.  The streaming platform giant has been going strong for 3 years now. Despite recent price increases, it remains a popular means of media consumption.

Discrepancies with Disney+ earnings were one of the deciding factors for the quick removal of former Disney CEO, Bob Chapek. This has recently led to a lawsuit including Chapek and several others for the misinformation of the financial success of Disney+.

Recently, during a Second Quarter Earnings call, current Disney CEO Bob Iger addressed big changes coming to Disney+. This includes higher prices for the add-free tier and also improvements for streaming.

Losing Content

During the First Quarter Earnings Call, the Disney+ subscription had taken a loss. It appears this downward slope continues for the streaming service.  For the Second Quarter Earnings, Disney+ lost 4 million subscribers – primarily overseas. Nevertheless, big measures are now being taken for Disney+.

Disney CFO, Christine McCarthy shares, “We will be removing certain content from our streaming platforms.” Not only will they be removing current content, but McCarthy shares, “We intend to produce lower volumes of content in alignment with this strategic shift.”

If it's true that mandalorian is going to be removed they're like cutting their nose off to spite their face. Mandalorian has been the number one watch show especially with little grugu in it. Disney I would think twice about removing one of your most popular shows.

It doesn't make sense to remove content at all. The whole purpose of streaming is to have a vast library of titles for everyone to enjoy. Taking away content is the quickest way to lose a customer base. When willow a prop culture and dogs life with Bill farmer are gone....that will lose a huge base of viewers, including me. Its not smart marketing. Never take away something, especially after raising prices.
