The attraction was running when the Guest jumped out of the Splash Mountain log at Disneyland.
Splash Mountain
Splash Mountain will soon be added to the growing list of Disney attractions that are rethemed. The ride opened in 1989 at Disneyland 1992 at Disney World and introduced a new generation to characters from Disney’s 1946 film, Song of the South.
Hop inside a hollow log and float through a colorful bayou as you follow happy-go-lucky Br’er Rabbit to his “laughing place.” But be warned: Br’er Bear and Br’er Fox are in hot pursuit of this wayward hare.
Glide past over 100 talking, singing, storytelling Audio-Animatronics critters who inhabit Splash Mountain and offer up their own slice of down-home culture. Sing along to classic Disney ditties, including “Zip-a-Dee-Doo-Dah.”
Then, brace yourself for the big finale—this musical cruise ends in a thrilling 5-story splashdown!
The Disneyland ride closes tomorrow, May 30 which means today is the very last day to ride. Unfortunately, a Guest experienced a scary situation this past weekend.
Guest jumped out of a log
In a video posted on social media, Guests caught a very scary sight. Over the holiday weekend, a Guest was seen walking along part of the attraction towards the very top of the ride. She had presumably jumped out of the ride and onto the walkway. The person filming said, “Oh my gosh, what are you doing?!” The young woman replied, “I can’t! I’m seriously having a panic attack!”
If you have ever been on Disneyland’s Splash Mountain, you know that there are no safety lap bars on the logs. The first time my (Monica) family rode this, I was terrified one of my children would fall out.
Then, she walks down a set of steps in an attempt to get out saying she’s going to have another panic attack. While we empathize with the Guest, this is incredibly dangerous! First, she could have slipped on the rock and fallen into the water. With the log quickly approaching she could have been very seriously injured.
Second, who knows where the stairs lead? It could go to another part of the attraction where she could be in even more danger.
As the couple filming turns the corner, the woman exclaims, “Can you do that?!” We would like to reiterate that, no, you cannot do that. Once you are on the ride, you are expected to stay seated for the duration. You may remember a family jumped out of the Space Mountain ride when they were stuck.

We hope this young Guest is okay, but there are serious consequences for this kind of behavior. Share your thoughts with us in the comments below.
