It looks like Disney Legend Kathryn Beaumont, the original Alice, is set to RETURN to Wonderland for a Disney Series. Here are all the details.
Kathryn Beaumont
Truly, Kathryn Beaumont is a living legend and a living Disney Legend at that. She was named a Disney Legend in 1998.
Born June 27, 1938, she has spent time working as a singer, actress, and school teacher. Her most notable work, and that which makes her a Disney Legend, was her voice work in the role of Alice in Alice and Wonderland (1951) and the role of Wendy Darling in Peter Pan (1953).
Many people don’t even realize that the same actress provided both characters’ voices. Now, she is getting back to her roots!
Alice’s Wonderland Bakery
If you have little ones, you may have been among the first to realize that Wonderland is BACK. Alice’s Wonderland Bakery is a series from Disney Branded Content. It debuted on February 9, 2022 on Disney Channel, Disney Junior, and Disney+.
The show is very much inspired by Alice in Wonderland. The series centers on Alice, the great-granddaughter of the original heroine. The new-generation Alice’s journey through the Looking Glass begins after she discovers a magical mirror in the pantry that transports her to the whimsical world. There, she becomes a budding young baker at the enchanted Wonderland Bakery, where her magical treats help bring a new generation of friends and families together.
It’s actually a pretty cute show. There are lots of little Wonderland nuggets for adults who grew up with the original film to appreciate.
The series already wrapped up one season, and it was one thing that survived the Disney+ purge. It has been renewed.
Better yet, in a fun nod to the past, Kathryn Beaumont is coming on for the second season of Alice’s Wonderland Bakery. She will return to Wonderland in a 22-minute special titled “Alice’s First Day in Wonderland.”
When Can I Watch?
The new season of Alice’s Wonderland Bakery drops soon. The news is sure to be a delight for little ones everywhere.
Season 2 airs on Wednesday, June 28, 2023, at 7:15 a.m. ET/PT on Disney Junior. An initial batch of 7 episodes will premiere the same day on Disney+ as well.
