A New Rock ‘n’ Roller Theme Has Been Pitched

Something new could be taking over Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster. Do you think this potential new theme will cause a little Mayhem?

Everyone’s favorite super-stretch coaster just finished a round of refurbishments. Back in December, we shared the disappointing news that Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster would begin a rather lengthy refurbishment.

After a closure that began in February, the coaster quietly reopened on May 26. Read more about this reopening HERE.

Guests were being launched from 0 to 60 again in ride vehicles featuring improved restraints and wheels. Our team also noticed a few other changes had been made to brighten up the existing visual elements such as the neon signs. These changes are great for fans who love taking in ride details and don’t want to miss a thing.

There were some rumors swirling that suggested Disney may be looking to retheme the ride, especially after Universal’s acquisition of Aerosmith’s music catalog in 2022. You can read more about that HERE. Fans also wondered whether a lawsuit could affect the theme. However, Aerosmith is still very much present now that the ride has reopened.

But, that doesn’t mean that Disney is not going to dream on in terms of theming. In fact, it looks like an idea was pitched for a retheme that might cause a little mayhem.

A Rock ‘n’ Rollercoaster Muppet Takeover

Jeff Yorkes is the co-creator of The Muppets Mayhem, a new Disney+ series featuring the muppet band Dr. Teeth and the Electric Mayhem. Yorks took to Twitter to let the social media world know that a Muppets retheme for Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster HAS indeed been pitched!

The tweet says, “Not gonna lie– this was absolutely part of our original pitch and is another piece of this dream. Fingers-crossed that it happens.” Apparently, the team’s original pitch for The Muppets Mayhem included a Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster retheme!

Update: The Tweet has since been removed.

An Electric Mayhem theme on Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster? Can you picture that?

This is a narrative of very heavy-duty proportion! Even Josh Gad wants it to happen. He replied, “Please make this happen.” Perhaps some coaster rethemes are worth melting for.

Will Guests ever be riding down the aisle to the thunderously loud music of Dr. Teeth and the Electric Mayhem? It would make sense since the coaster’s storyline already works so well for The Electric Mayhem. Is it possible that a new pre-show that opens with the line “Welcome to my presence” is not outside of the realm of possibility after all?

Of course, Disney has made no official statements pertaining to any sort of retheme. However, you never know what may happen. After all, the Tiana/Splash Mountain retheme swirled from rumor to reality swiftly.

Do you hope the Muppets take over Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster? Is there something you would rather see? Let us know in the comments. Do you know someone who loves the muppets and would LOVE for this pitch to turn into a home run? Feel free to pass along the story.

That's the stupidest idea. It's not a little kids ride. If they're going to retheme it why not make it a "magical mystery tour" ? They could change bands and music and you wouldn't know until you get on what band it's going to be. How about some Elton John? He has a good relationship with Disney.

Thank you for reading Rosa. I'd love it if it could stay just like it is. We shall see what happens.
