Disney changed a key feature of the DAS program’s pre-registration service.
Disability Access Service (DAS)
Disney updated the Disability Access Service (DAS for short) almost two years ago. While there are certainly some major improvements, there are also some serious frustrations. Many Guests are delighted to be able to pre-choose two attractions per day. However, the process to do that can be very burdensome.
Fortunately, it has improved greatly in the almost two years it has been around. While you can certainly wait until you arrive at the parks to register, I recommend pre-registering. The chat has become much more efficient. For the last few times my party has registered for DAS, we have not waited more than just a few minutes.
Kate discusses whether you should register ahead of time or wait until your trip HERE.
Changes to pre-registration
Previously, a Cast Member started a live video chat with the person registering. Once it was approved, the Cast Member then transferred you to a regular chat to make the advance selections. These are the two attractions per day that do not count against your day-of selections.
Now, the same Cast Member who registers your party for DAS will also handle your pre-selections. This is also done via video chat – the same one you used to pre-register, actually.
The same Cast Member who registers your party for DAS will also handle your pre-selections
I was surprised when this happened to my party, but the text is right there on the Disney website:
Eligible Guests can now pre-register for DAS Advance virtually with a Cast Member, using live video chat. Please note that you may pre-register as soon as 30 days in advance of a park visit, but no less than 2 days before arrival.
During the registration chat, you will be able to work with a Cast Member to book up to 2 one-hour return windows for select experiences using our new DAS Advance planning option (you may also make additional DAS selections on the day of your visit).
Then a few lines down…
During your initial registration call, you’ll be able to work with a Cast Member to pre-select up to 2 experiences per day of your visit (subject to availability). These selections are in addition to the return times you can request throughout the day of your actual park visit.
Your thoughts?
I think this is another way Disney is streamlining the DAS registration process. It was a lot quicker to verbally speak with the Cast Member instead of going back and forth on the chat. But because it does go quicker, you need to know your daily plans and have a few Plan Bs and Cs ready to go to ensure the selections will fit in with your day.
Do note that there was still a Cast Member available for chat after the initial call. I assume if you are not ready to make selections you could also come back later and text with someone that way.
Do you like this change? Would you prefer to speak to someone throughout the whole process, or did you like texting with the Cast Member to make selections? Let us know in the comments below and share this post with a friend who utilizes DAS.

You will literally spend an entire day waiting for someone to video chat with and then still not get anyone. It is incredibly frustrating.

When we registered yesterday we had someone on the live chat within 5 minutes (around 8:30 am ET) and we were done with everything within 20. Definitely the smoothest experience we've ever had.

I wonder how this will impact the multi-hour wait to video chat... It doesn't sound like it will make it shorter unless they have more Castmembers available to video chat.
