While it’s taking way too long, we’re excited to share the latest update in the ongoing EPCOT construction.
EPCOT Projects
Anyone who has been to EPCOT recently has probably noticed there is a significant amount of construction going on behind the walls at EPCOT. Part of EPCOT’s reimagining includes a Moana-themed walk-through attraction called Journey of Water. This immersive exploration trail will be in the heart of EPCOT’s World Nature neighborhood.
Another big project in the same area is the Communicore Plaza and Hall. When it opens later this year, you’ll be able to meet Mickey Mouse and his pals at CommuniCore Hall. Then, the rest of the building features exhibition space for EPCOT’s festivals. This space will include live music and food too!
The Communicore Plaza and Hall will be a great space for meeting Disney characters and enjoying festivals!
In addition, the Moana Journey of Water attraction will open later this year, and Dreamer’s Point with the Walt Disney statue will also debut soon. This newly reimagined EPCOT will be completed in late 2023. Check out this timeline HERE.
Walkway Opened
Due to the building of the Moana Journey of Water attraction and the park entrance’s overhaul, Epcot has been a major maze of construction walls for the last 3+ years. It is certainly not fun navigating the park, and it can be easy to get turned around.
In particular, the walkways between World Nature, World Celebration, and World Discovery have been closed for many years. Walking from Soarin’ to Test Track, for example, requires a lot more steps.
Recently, we shared that Epcot recently opened a walkway connecting World Celebration and World Nature! This makes it easier to get from The Seas with Nemo and Friends to Spaceship Earth.
And now, the walkway and the outside restroom facing The Land have reopened too!
Latest Progress
I (Susan) hope that the wait will be worth it for EPCOT’s World Nature neighborhood. Not sure if I’m more excited about experiencing this new area or having those EPCOT walls gone.
You can see the latest construction update on the Communicore Hall building above. It’s really starting to take shape!
And not only that, but the columns shown have also been installed. They look like they may have lights included on them. I’m really hoping this area is worth the wait!
What do you think of the coming Communicore Plaza and Hall and Moana water feature? Do you think this was the best use of this prime real estate or would you prefer something else here? Please let us know in the comments.
