Genie+
Built on top of Genie, Genie+ is a paid feature that offers more convenience and flexibility. Here is the shortened version: for $15+ per person per day at Disney World and $20+ per person per day at Disneyland, choose the next available time to arrive at a variety of attractions and experiences using the Lightning Lane entrance.
You can choose to use the standby line instead of purchasing Genie+. In doing so, Disney is not forcing you to pay for this feature. You can make one selection at a time all throughout the day. 40+ attractions are included at Walt Disney World and 15+ attractions are available at Disneyland.

Variable Pricing
When Genie+ first debuted, pricing was set at $15 at Disney World. However, last fall Disney introduced variable pricing. With date-based theme park ticket pricing and Disney’s announcement that Guests could no longer purchase Genie+ in advance, variable pricing came as little surprise. Disney saw a way to increase revenue during peak crowd levels on this service and capitalized on it.
Depending on the season and anticipated crowd levels, we have seen pricing as high as $35/person/day! This is double (and then some) the price of Genie+ when it first debuted.
New Pricing Structure?
As of now, Genie+ is the same price no matter what park you visit. However, there is a behind the scenes rumor circulating that suggests Disney may move to a “per park” pricing structure.
This means pricing for Genie+ would vary depending on which park you choose to purchase it for. Genie+ is always less necessary at Epcot and Animal Kingdom than at Hollywood Studios or Magic Kingdom. It seems this model would allow for cheaper access at some parks vs others.
We also hear with this structure, Guests would not be able to use it in another park. For example, if you purchase it at Animal Kingdom you could not hop to Magic Kingdom and use it there. As we understand it, there may still be a full priced hopper option for Genie+.
CONFIRMED
We have confirmation that this rumor is TRUE. Starting June 27, Guests will have the option to purchase a single-park option or a multi-park option.
Pricing examples show:
- Multiple parks: $27
- Magic Kingdom: $27
- EPCOT: $18
- Hollywood Studios: $24
- Animal Kingdom: $16

As a DVC member, it is time to say good by to Disney. I have been to WDW over 100 times, and I am done with Disney. Considering the new proposed pricing, it will cost a family of five between $15,000 to $18,000 to vacation in WDW for a week ... considering all possible expenses.
It's time to say good by to Disney.

Randy is absolutely correct. Just returned from an extended family vacation to WDW. Genie+ and Lightning Lane are expensive and cumbersome. I'm so tired of Disney gouging it's "guests." (It's ridiculous that Disney still calls us guests.) The perks used to make for a magical vacation...that's gone.
