Guests love to try their hand at removing the famous Sword in the Stone. Find out why it is being removed at one Disney Park.
Sword in the Stone
My (Donna) children absolutely love the Sword in the Stone Disney film. Every trip to the Magic Kingdom includes a visit to the Excalibur, which is located in front of Prince Charming Regal Carousel.
Guests are welcome to try their strength and luck at this hidden gem. In the past, a ceremony was held where Merlin the Sorcerer came to ask one young knight to try their hand at pulling out the sword. Unfortunately, this experience is no longer available, but the sword remains. There are so many great hidden treasures throughout the Disney Parks.
Unfortunately, the Sword in the Stone will soon be removed from one Disney Park.
Replacement
Let’s be honest; Disney fans are not typically big on change. We love the nostalgia and familiarity of Disney Parks. Today, the Hong Kong Disneyland Resort Ambassador, Tony Dick, announced that the Sword in the Stone will be removed from the Park.
This Sword in the Stone is located in front of the Carousel as it is in the other Disney Parks. Interestingly, the Sword in the Stone will be removed to make room for the new Dream Makers statue.
This statue will feature both Walt Disney and Mickey Mouse seated on a bench. We love the idea of this statue at this location. Walt Disney shared that as he was sitting on that park bench eating peanuts, he was also dreaming.
Disney said, “I felt that there should be something built where the parents and the children could have fun together. So that’s how Disneyland started.”
The Sword in the Stone will soon be replaced with the Dream Makers statue.
Soon guests visiting Hong Kong Disneyland can remember this dream of Walt Disney as they watch families enjoy Cinderella Carousel. It is interesting to note that this statue will be placed behind the castle while many other statues of Walt Disney and Mickey Mouse are featured at the front of the castle.
What do you think of the removal of the Sword in the Stone? Do you wish similar Dream Makers statues would be placed in all Disney Parks? Share your thoughts with us and share this news with a fellow Disney pal.

All these dramatic comments about Walt's vision and it's happening in Hong Kong Disney. So dramatic

Too sad. Just another way that Disney is changing for the worse. I grew up with Disneyland and went to Disney World later. Such great memories. I was hoping to make more, but I think it's all in the past.

Disney is essential to childhood. I feel sorry for children of parents who don’t feel this way.
