Be prepared with these current warnings issued for Walt Disney World and surrounding areas.
In Summer
This is not breaking news; we all know that Florida is hot and humid in the summer. A couple of years ago, I (Donna) enjoyed my first summer trip to Walt Disney World.
I felt as though I sympathized with our favorite snowman Olaf, “Winter’s a good time to stay in and cuddle, but put me in summer, and I’ll be a…. Happy Snowman.” To be honest, I really felt like a puddle by the end of our first Park day.
There are great ways to beat the heat and still have a magical day at Disney, even if you encounter a few summer showers during your trip. Guests traveling to the “Sunshine State” need to be prepared for this warning.
Weather Warning in Effect
The Disney Parks are getting busier as guests arrive to celebrate the 4th of July at the “Most Magical Place on Earth” in a few days. It also seems as if the heat was cranked up as well.
This morning the Florida Division of Emergency Management issued a warning to both residents and guests of Florida. The entire state is experiencing “extremely hot and humid conditions.” The Western part of Florida may experience temperatures in the triple digits.
There is a risk of Walt Disney World reaching triple digits as well. Although at this time, they are still in the double digits but with a heat index of 101° to 108°.
Strong to severe thunderstorms can be expected as well. When temperatures reach these levels, Disney puts safety measures in place for Cast Members. This may affect guests utilizing Disney parking lots with heat advisories in place.
Severe thunderstorms will also affect Disney transportation, including the Skyliner and boat transportation. If you are visiting the Disney Parks, please be mindful of this advisory and take breaks when needed. Disney also offers FREE water at all counter-service dining locations.
