Many people did with no success.
Disney Technology
We all have a love-hate relationship with Disney technology. It can definitely enhance our in-park experience, but when it fails it causes a lot of frustration.
It is becoming more and more common for Disney to utilize virtual waiting rooms for special event tickets. Yesterday, three Disney events went on sale. While it appears that two of those events went live without a hitch, one did not.
Oogie Boogie Bash
This limited-capacity event offers guests of all ages the opportunity to enjoy the park’s attractions, unique entertainment, character meets, and more. Don’t forget to dress up in your favorite Halloween costumes.
In addition to taking in all the spooktacular sights and trick-or-treating experiences, guests attending Oogie Boogie Bash will also be able to explore areas inside Disney California Adventure Park that remain open during the party, including Avengers Campus. Be sure to check out my review of this unique event HERE.
This event becomes more and more popular each year, and this year was the worst ticket experience we have witnessed.
Big problems
With such a popular event, it’s not surprising thousands of people were wanting to purchase tickets. Pretty soon after sales went live, Disney moved to a virtual waiting room. However, from what we experienced very few people made it out of the waiting room and were able to actually buy tickets.
Hours went by with no progress, and by 4:00-ish Pacific Time, Disney actually closed the queue. Check out their message:
We apologize for the technical issues which have impacted general ticket sales for Oogie Boogie Bash. New sales are paused while we work to address these issues. Completed ticket purchase will be honored.
They also state that Guests can check back on Thursday, July 6 at 9:00 am PT for an update. This MAY include the date and time for when new sales will resume. So, sales will NOT resume on this date, but that is hopefully when Disney will let us know of the new date.
We are happy for those who were able to purchase tickets, but this is not acceptable to the vast majority of people who were not successful. Disney has to do better with these ticket sales so people don’t waste hours out of their day trying to complete a purchase.
