If you love participating in authentic experiences at EPCOT’s World Showcase Pavilions, then you don’t want to miss this one-of-a-kind event.
Mitsukoshi Department Store
From the impressive décor, which features red ceilings with exposed wood beams, to the authentic items available for sale, the Mitsukoshi Department Store is a popular stop at Epcot’s Japan Pavilion.
In addition to the unique apparel, such as kimonos, Japanese handbags and scarves, an entire area within the store is devoted to Japanese snacks and candies. You’ll also find a Sake Bar at the Mitsukoshi store, where you can sample a variety of samples.
And for a unique experience, Mitsukoshi recently reopened their pearl area. Cast Members here make the experience fun and interactive with their enthusiasm and musical instruments when guests find a pearl.
You can even put your pearl in a special jewelry item. Take a look at the details HERE on how this works.
Star Festival
Tanabata, the Star Festival, celebrates the mythological tale of two star-crossed lovers, Orihime and Hikoboshi, who are allowed to meet only once a year on the 7th day of the 7th lunar month.
During Tanabata, people in Japan write their heartfelt wishes on colorful “tanzaku” strips of paper. It is a moment of connection with the stars as they symbolize wishes, dreams, and hopes for the future.
Create your Own Tanzaku
Join Disney on July 7th from 11:30am to 6pm as cast members guide you through writing your very own tanzaku! Hang your personalized tanzaku on the symbolic bamboo branches, where your wishes will join a constellation of hopes, dreams and positive energy.
Discover the celestial romance of the Tanabata special event at the Japan Pavilion on 7/7! These make one-of-a-kind souvenirs to remember your trip by too.
