The severe weather yesterday is still affecting guests today at Walt Disney World. See which attraction remains closed.
Severe Weather
Guests traveling to the “Sunshine State” can plan for summer showers, but when severe weather hits, that is a whole different situation. Many times, outdoor attractions will close for rain and lightning.
The time of the closure is largely based on the length of the storm and also the upcoming weather forecast as well. Yesterday guests visiting Disney’s Animal Kingdom experienced a light show that they did not expect.
As guests dodged rain showers, they also saw lightning strikes near the park. All guests were safe, but this is still not a great sign for your magical day at Disney’s Animal Kingdom.
Attractions Affected
These showers closed attractions around 1:00 pm. After the storms dissipated, many of the outdoor attractions reopened after being closed for just 30 minutes to an hour.
This was not the case for two of Disney’s Animal Kingdom favorite attractions: Expedition Everest and Kali River Rapids. Expedition Everest eventually reopened, but Kali River Rapids remained closed.
Many guests were curious if these attractions would be available at the park opening this morning. Fortunately for guests, Kali River Rapids did open to guests as scheduled.
Unfortunately, Expedition Everest did not open with the scheduled park opening and remains closed. Disney’s Animal Kingdom offers fewer attractions than other parks, and Everest failure to open increases wait times for other attractions.
Expedition Everest did not open to guests this morning after severe weather yesterday.
What do you think of this long closure? Which attraction would you choose with Expedition Everest failing to open? Share your thoughts with us and share this news with a fellow Disney pal.
