Look at this latest development at Disney World’s Haunted Mansion attraction and see what you think about the Hatbox Ghost coming soon.
The Haunted Mansion
The Haunted Mansion is one of the most popular attractions at Walt Disney World. It combines both “spooky” and “funny” elements to create a “haunted” experience that is uniquely Disney.
This attraction combines the work of some of the best Disney Imagineers in the company’s history to create illusions and tricks that bring guests back again and again.
Some of the attraction’s best tricks, like those in the ballroom scene, rely upon fairly old “technology” to create memorable illusions that still entertain guests each and every day! Take a look at some of the spooky secrets found on The Haunted Mansion HERE.
Hatbox Ghost
At the opening of Disneyland’s Haunted Mansion, the Hatbox Ghost was located in the attic scene. This character had a special effect: his head would disappear and show up in his hatbox and then would pop back to the top of his head.
Imagineer Yale Gracey designed this addition, but the original Hatbox Ghost only lasted but a few days. The effect wasn’t up to the standard that Gracey wanted for the attraction because at that time the technology wasn’t able to make the trick correctly.
Since that time, however, the Hatbox Ghost has had a cult-like following. A year ago, much to fans delight, we announced HERE that the Hatbox Ghost would be coming to Disney World!
Is this a Sign?
When Disney announced the Hatbox Ghost would be coming to Magic Kingdom’s Haunted Mansion, no date was given for this addition. However, with the Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Parties approaching soon, this would be a perfect time!
Now, Disney gives us hope that this may happen soon. From August 7-9, 2023, Disney World’s Haunted Mansion will be closed for refurbishment. While this is a brief closure, I’m (Susan) really hoping this means he’s coming! And the first Halloween party is August 11!!
