Be sure to be prepared if you are at Walt Disney World this week. Transportation might be delayed!
Disney Monorail
Disney World’s monorail system opened October 1, 1971 with the rest of Walt Disney World and quickly became a favorite of many! The monorail cruises above the Seven Seas Lagoon, offering Guests a spectacular view from this “Highway in the Sky.”
Offering access to Magic Kingdom, Epcot, the Transportation and Ticket Center, and several resorts, the monorail is a quick and efficient way to get around Walt Disney World (and far superior to most other transportation options).
Delayed Opening
If you are visiting Walt Disney World this week, be sure to allow time for a delayed opening. The monorail will open later on Friday, July 14th to allow for routine maintenance.
Disney expects the monorail to reopen by 10 a.m. on Friday. Guests may use existing boat transportation to reach Magic Kingdom. Bus transportation will also be available from all monorail resorts, including Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort, Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, Magic Kingdom Park and Disney’s Contemporary Resort, and the Transportation & Ticket Center.
The Disney Monorail System will have a delayed opening Friday, July 14, 2023 and is expected to reopen by 10 a.m.
According to Disney, direct bus service to EPCOT from each of the monorail resorts will also be available. We are glad this is only a small delay in opening. If you have morning plans, be sure to use alternative forms of transportation. Also be prepared for longer lines at other forms of transportation. Lines for the bus and boat will be significantly longer if the monorail is not available.
