Disney Parks are known for their mesmerizing fireworks spectaculars. On this commemorative holiday in France, this particular fireworks show did not disappoint anyone, as it even broke a World Record for drones used. There’s a great video included!
Bastille Day
Bastille Day, or La Fête Nationale or French National Day, is celebrated on July 14th. It commemorates the storming of the Bastille prison in Paris on July 14, 1789. It marks a key event in the French Revolution and the beginning of the end of the monarchy in France.
The holiday, therefore, allows the French to unite and celebrate their national identity and values. Bastille Day is a public holiday in France. Many businesses, schools, and government offices close to allow people to participate in the festivities.
France celebrates yearly with various festivities. These include parades, fireworks, concerts, parties, and public gatherings. The largest and most famous parade takes place on the Champs-Élysées in Paris. Military forces, including the French Army, Navy, Air Force, and National Guard, showcase their skills and equipment. Additionally, Disneyland Paris partakes in the national holiday festivities.
Disneyland Paris Bastille Day
Disneyland Paris, one of the major tourist destinations in France, celebrates special events and activities to commemorate Bastille Day. For example, a surprise Disney pin was released. It includes Peter Pan flying across Sleeping Beauty Castle, holding blue, white, and red balloons. And to end the night, Mickey and Minnie Mouse featuring French-inspired outfits, waved to guests from Main Street, U.S.A. Railroad Station.
Disneyland Paris Bastille Firework Show
A trip to Disney Park is only complete with a viewing of a fireworks spectacular. This year’s nighttime entertainment was marvelous. Disneyland Paris and its technology partner Dronisos created a gorgeous Bastille firework show that set a World Record by featuring 1500 drones above Sleeping Beauty Castle.
As a result, the ten-minute firework show opened with Lumiere welcoming guests to the special Bastille Day fireworks, followed by a couple of seconds of the French National Anthem played as a blue, white, and red banner appeared above Sleeping Beauty Castle. Next, the song, “Be Our Guest,” illuminated the night sky with colorful fireworks.
No sooner than halfway through the Ratatouille song, “A New Deal,” hundreds of drones displayed the Arc of Triomphe, Notre Dame Cathedral, Sacre Coeur, the famous Moulin Rouge windmill, and the Eiffel Tower, followed by the ending credit song from the same film. The show continues with “Everyone Wants to be a Cat,” from the Aristocrats as more drones created musical notes and trumpets. Next, the music transitioned to “Out There” from Hunchback of Notre Dame as the song begins with drones creating the famous stained glass windows from the Notre Dame Cathedral and later transitioning to building the bell towers.
“Topsy Turvy,” a song from the same film, allowed Sleeping Beauty Castle to transform into colorful jester hats alongside with a colorful firework display. The grand finale captivated guests with a plethora of fireworks that illuminated the night sky alongside a reprise of “Be Our Guest.” Finally, the show ends with a Mickey head in the French colors.
