We got exclusive word on when these refurbishments will end!
Refurbishments
Refurbishment is a dreaded word for Disney fans who will soon be visiting Disney Parks. In theory, we all understand that refurbishments are a necessary part of keeping the parks and resorts magical.
Attractions, restaurants, and amenities all close from time to time in order to keep operations running smoothly. It’s important to stay up to date on these refurbishments for your upcoming trip. You never know what may be closing!
Fort Wilderness Refurbishments
If you have been at Fort Wilderness lately, you know the area at the marina is undergoing a lot of refurbishment work. Trail’s End is converting into a quick-service location, and Crockett’s Tavern and P & J’s Southern Takeout are closed.
Don’t worry though! P & J’s has a mobile order pick up spot, and Hoop Dee Doo Musical Revue is still open! However, things are kind of messy for the time being.
Trail’s End Restaurant is a popular dining location at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort. Inside Trail’s End, you’ll find beamed ceilings, split-log walls, mounted animals and a stove in a rustic, cozy setting. Here, you’ll feel like you’ve been transported back to the frontier days in a country setting.
Reopening
Disney has not released an official reopening date for these locations other than “summer 2023.” However, Cast Members at Fort Wilderness told us these refurbishments are expected to be complete by the end of this month, July 2023!
We are definitely excited to hear this news! Right now, dining options at The Fort are a bit limited. There are quick-service options at the Meadows Pool and various food trucks in the marina area. Plus, you can still get food from P & J’s!
Pirate tip: P & J’s mobile order pick up is located around the corner of Crockett’s Tavern!

Heartbroken that Trails End is no more. It was a must-do dining spot for our family every time we went to WDW, for either breakfast or dinner. Perhaps I will miss Crockett's Tavern the most. I would stop by an pay homage to the portrait of Fess Parker as Davy Crockett and admire "Old Betsy" hanging on the wall, which was the real Kentucky rifle Fess Parker used in the Davy Crockett movies. Sad that this is all gone now in the name of "progress."
