Hear me out. There’s a unique feature at this Disney World attraction that may need a virtual queue to manage crowds.
Upcoming Attraction
Anyone who has been to EPCOT over the past few years has noticed there is a significant amount of construction going on behind the walls at EPCOT.
Part of EPCOT’s reimagining includes a Moana-themed walk-through attraction called Journey of Water. This immersive exploration trail will be in the heart of EPCOT’s World Nature neighborhood.
The attraction will walk guests through the water cycle, specifically focusing on how water cycles from our skies to our oceans and back continuously. Along the way, guests will interact with story elements from Disney’s hit film Moana and experience the “playfulness of water.”
While Disney hasn’t given an opening date, they have shared that it will open in Fall 2023. And now through August 19, Cast Members can preview this cool area!
Unique Feature
But when it opens, how will crowds be managed? Well, there’s a feature of the World Nature neighborhood that may surprise you.
If you’re expecting to save steps at EPCOT when the construction walls come down, you may not like this element. That’s because this area is a closed loop. This means this area will not have an opening for a path to get to any other part of EPCOT.
EPCOT’s Journey of Water inspired by Moana is a closed loop.
Controlling Crowds
We’ve been waiting for this area to open for what seems like forever. And once it does open, guests will want to flock to this area to experience it. How will they control crowds?
Because this is a self-contained space, EPCOT can manage the number of people allowed in it at any given time. And the way Disney has limited crowds of popular attractions is by utilizing a virtual queue. So, Disney may use a virtual queue at Journey of Water when it opens.
EPCOT controls crowds by utilizing a virtual queue on its most popular attractions.
Do you like that Journey of Water is a closed loop? Or, were you wanting to save steps walking through it? Will it use a virtual queue? Please let us know your thoughts in the comments.
