Today, Disney was talking money. We were excited that the money talk included the future of Disney theme parks!
3rd Quarter Earnings Call
Today Bob Iger led the 3rd Quarter Earnings Call for the Walt Disney Company. During that call, he spelled out updates on Disney’s financial situation and entertained questions from investors.
One of the most impactful things he shared is that he believes there are three businesses that will drive the greatest growth in value over the next five years. These are film studios, parks business, and streaming.
You can see some of his comments on Disney film studios HERE, park earnings HERE, and the Disney+ streaming service HERE.
Investment in the Theme Parks
Of course, the thing that probably interests Disney Parks fans the most is information surrounding the investment the company plans to make in theme parks. And, Bob Iger delivered comments on the future of the parks.
Disney fans can look forward to the future of their beloved theme parks. Iger stated, “We’re making numerous investments globally to grow our parks business over the next five years, and I’m very optimistic about the future of this business over the long term.”
Iger then detailed some of the expansions that are currently underway as part of the development that is coming over the next 5 years. For example, he spoke about the new Frozen Expansion that opens later this year. He also brought up the Zootopia expansion.
He also mentioned an upcoming Disneyland project. He stated that a new Avatar experience is coming “down the road.” Here is what we know about that so far. It is also important to note that he did NOT refer to the project as an attraction, so seeing what materializes will be interesting.
At any rate, it is refreshing to note that Iger considers the parks such a big part of what drives profits. Perhaps this faith in the parks stems from the fact that “following a number of recent changes we’ve implemented, we continue to see positive guest experience ratings in our theme parks, including Walt Disney World, and positive indicators for guests looking to book future visits “
This news means that Iger and other executives see the parks as a worthy investment. Also, it provides hope for fans that we will continue enjoying new experiences and attractions.
We are hoping to see some BIG new announcements for the Disney Parks at this year’s D23 event. Perhaps we will get something more concrete than the Blue Sky concepts last year’s event delivered.
Be sure to follow along with us here at Kennythepirate.com when the announcements begin to break. It all goes down on Saturday, September 9 and Sunday, September 10, 2023.
