Space Mountain Is Going to be Closed Soon

“Pardon our Pixie Dust” is Disney’s polite way of alerting Guests that something is not quite right. But, Disney fans know that the phrase is pretty much the equivalent of saying, “You aren’t going to like this very much.”

You see, fans consider the phrase to be a bit of a downer because typically they know it means that an attraction, restaurant, pool, resort area, etc. is temporarily closed or down for maintenance or undergoing a refurbishment.

Sadly, refurbishment is an important part of the world of theme parks! It does the important job of upholding one of Disney’s 5 Keys Safety. After all, no one would have much fun at all if we weren’t confident that the rides we enjoy are going to deliver us safely from start to finish!

Nevertheless, most refurbishments are a bit disappointing. It’s even more disappointing when a popular headliner that many Guests want to enjoy is undergoing a refurbishment.

Today, it was announced that Space Mountain will be closing soon for refurbishment. This rollercoaster constantly attracts fans whether they want to ride it for the first time or the 101st time. So, it is likely that its absence will leave a gap in some plans.

The Closing Date

This closure will begin in Disneyland on September 18, 2023. Hopefully, it will be brief, and the classic coaster will be up and taking travelers to conquer space again soon!

And, so far, no reopening date has been posted. All that we have is a vague time frame estimate of mid-fall 2023. This is not too unusual. Often, a more specific reopening date follows a refurbishment announcement, so follow along with us here at Kennythepirate.com to find out when it will be opening again.

Space Mountain in Disneyland closes on September 18, 2023 and will reopen mid-fall 2023.

Does Space Mountain’s refurbishment interfere with your upcoming plans to visit Disneyland? Let us know in the comments. And, be sure to pass this post along to your friends and family who are traveling soon so that they can manage their expectations.

We are going very end of September for my daughters 10th birthday and this will be the the first time we have gone since Jan 2019! Extremely dissapointed as this is one of my absolute favorite rides and she wanted to ride it for the 1st time. Who knows when we will be able to come back because of how insanely expensive it is =(

Hi, Erin. Are you heading to Disneyland or WDW? This closure affects the California park's version. :)

Will be in Disneyland on October 20th. We've been planning our trip for months. Disappointed it will be closed but understand the necessity. Its a fave for sure but as long as Thunder Mountain is open then I will be happy!
