It seems to be two steps forward and one step back with this new update. Check out the new timeframe and images.
Journey of Water
Part of EPCOT’s reimagining includes a Moana-themed walk-through attraction called Journey of Water. This immersive exploration trail will be in the heart of EPCOT’s World Nature neighborhood.
It will serve as a huge feature in this area of the park dedicated to “understanding and preserving the beauty, awe, and balance of the natural world.”
Last month, Disney announced that the first round of Cast Member previews this new attraction. Many guests were hopeful that guest previews would soon follow behind. It now appears that we may be waiting a bit longer for this attraction.
Updates
The attraction will walk guests through the water cycle, specifically focusing on how water cycles from our skies to our oceans and back continuously. Along the way, guests will interact with story elements from Disney’s hit film Moana. They will experience the “playfulness of water” for themselves!
A new addition has been added to this attraction description. Guests have an option to “Make A Splash…Or Stay Dry!” “You can choose to get wet—or take the dry path instead—as you explore this whimsical, watery world.”
Although we never had an actual opening date for the Journey of Water, this attraction was to open in the fall of 2023. This wording is now changed on the Walt Disney World website to now state, “Opening Late 2023.”
This is a bit disappointing for guests. We were no doubt the only ones hoping that guest previews or a soft opening may be announced soon. It now looks like we may be waiting a bit later for an official opening date.
Disney also shares a few new photos for this attraction. First is what appears to be the logo for this attraction:
Secondly, Disney shares a new view of this attraction:
The vibrant colors of this space look so inviting. We look forward to an exact date when this attraction will open to all guests.
Wording is now changed to announce “Opening Late 2023” rather than “Fall 2023”.
