Fans have been waiting for this for so long. Disney is finally correcting the mess that was made of the beloved Percy Jackson book series, snd now we know when you can watch it.
Percy Jackson and the Olympians
Avid readers can attest that any time they find an amazing book series, they know that it is only a matter of time before Hollywood buys the rights. Book fans are often left hoping that the creative minds bringing these beloved stories to life will do them justice. Everyone wants a repeat of Harry Potter or Lord of the Rings.
Everyone had such high hopes for Rick Riordan’s wildly popular Percy Jackson and the Olympians series. Sadly, when the story of the demigod was first adapted for film, the results were not well-received. The movies left audiences disappointed. And, after just two movies, additional sequels were scrapped.
However, Disney+ is bringing back Percy Jackson through a new TV series. In doing so, Disney has a chance to give fans what they want: an on-screen adaptation of the books that tells the full story in a way that does it justice. And, the creative minds behind it have promised that it will be a much more faithful adaptation of the books that audiences know and love.
Series Details
How can we be so sure that the TV show will be any better than the lackluster movies? For one thing, Percy Jackson author Rick Riordan has been working closely with filmmakers to help them get this one right. He has helped them deliver a series that stays true to his vision for these heroic characters that millions of book fans know and love.
Also, Disney is honoring the author’s choice to put kids at the center of the story. Percy, Annabeth Chase, and Grover Underwood will be the ages they were in the books and will not be “aged up” as they were in the movies. In fact, Walker Scobell, who plays Percy Jackson was 13 during filming.
Additionally, the TV series format is the right medium to give creators the ability to take their time with the development of the characters and the storyline. All of these choices sound like the right direction!
Release the Jackson
The series will come directly to Disney+, The Walt Disney Company’s streaming service. Initially, Disney anticipated the series would release sometime in 2024.
However, Disney+ gave us a HUGE surprise with the actual release date. Percy Jackson and the Olympians will be available much sooner than anticipated.
The series will make its grand debut on Disney+ On December 20, 2023! It will be here just in time for the winter holidays.

Idc if she's black, white or purple, so so long as she can act, that's what I care about. I read all the books as well, and was surprised to see Riordan sign off on her being black, but like changes in other series/movies, as long as she plays the part well ill forget about the change very quickly

You do realize that the author of the series himself is the one who cast the kids to play these roles, right? Rick himself cast her and said that he focused on the other attributes of Annabeth. He said that Jeffries is exactly as he pictured Annabeth.

Same feelings. All 3 of the main trio looks completely different to what they should be in the books. Percy is supposed to have black hair green eyes. If they can't get the eyes just get the hair, geez. Annabeth's casting also so far off. Grover is probably the least offensive but let's face it, Percy and Annabeth were the ones to get right.
