No one likes extended downtime, but this is becoming pretty common. Do you think this area needs an overhaul?
Closures
You may have spent months planning your Disney World vacation, but planning for all of the various closures and refurbishments that happen at Walt Disney World is more difficult to plan for. We constantly see attractions, lands, restaurants, shops, and closer and reopen briefly or sometimes even longer for refurbishments or for other reasons.
Whatever the case, these are necessary in order to keep the park up and running. Everything needs to be in good order for the constant flow of guests visiting the parks each and every day.
Attraction Downtime
Things happen even at Walt Disney World. This can be very disappointing for guests hoping to enjoy many of their favorite attractions. It is concerning when select attractions experience extended downtime on a fairly regular basis.
Over at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, there are not quite as many attractions available for guests as in the other parks. When one attraction is affected, this creates a ripple effect on the wait times at the other attractions.
One location in Disney’s Animal Kingdom appears to be going extinct. Last year, Disney announced in a “blue sky” discussion that Dinoland would be receiving a much-needed makeover. At that time, the Primeval Whirl was demolished, and Disney hinted at Moana and Zootopia coming.
The DINOSAUR attraction has remained open, but oftentimes has extended downtime and many of the animatronics and special effects do now work correctly.
Today, DINOSAUR experienced downtime at 1:45 pm (ET) and remains closed. This attraction has now been closed for two hours at the time of this writing.
Guests visiting Disney’s Animal Kingdom are now receiving a push notification from Maryann Smith, Disney’s Animal Kingdom Vice President, “I’d like to apologize that DINOSAUR is currently unavailable. Our Cast Members are working diligently to get the attraction up and running again.”
In all fairness many attractions experience downtime, but it seems as though DINOSAUR is just a bit extra these days. We hope this attraction will reopen to guests visiting Disney’s Animal Kingdom at some point today.
DINOSAUR is experiencing extended downtime today.
Do you think it is time for a major overhaul of Dinoland? Would this extended downtime affect your touring plan? How do you think this space should be reimagined? Share your thoughts and share this with your Disney pals.
