Disney Refurbishment is Now Extended Due to Weather

Refurbishments are a part of life at Disney Parks. These may take place for various reasons. Whether it be for mechanical issues or cosmetic updates, a refurbishment can take place for many reasons. Based on the nature of the work, the refurbishment may take a few days or several months.

The vast majority of refurbishments reopen as planned, and on a few occasions, even earlier than expected. Unfortunately, refurbishments may also be delayed. This is frustrating for guests particularly when a guest-favorite attraction is affected.

Disney’s California Adventure is home to Cars Land. This themed area is a big hit for Guests of all ages. It opened in 2012 and is home to shops, restaurants, and three attractions. The main attraction is Radiator Springs Racers, which is similar to Test Track at Epcot.

Radiator Springs Racers is one of the more popular attractions garnering long wait times throughout the day. Disney announced a brief refurbishment beginning on August 18, 2023 through August 26, 2023. Radiator Springs Racers was set to reopen to guests on Sunday, August 27th.

Unfortunately, this refurbishment is now extended due to the turbulent weather caused by Hurricane Hilary. This hurricane caused both Disneyland and Disney’s California Adventure to close early last weekend. Thankfully normal operating hours were available at both parks the following day.

Radiator Springs Racers will now reopen from refurbishment on Monday, August 28th. This is a bit disappointing for guests with upcoming visits. We are hopeful that this will be the last change for this refurbishment and that it will reopen with this new timeline.

Radiator Springs Racers is now delayed due to inclement weather from Hurricane Hilary.
