Find out the most recent update from Walt Disney World as Florida prepares for Tropical Storm Idalia.
State of Emergency
We just saw Hurricane Hilary hit Disneyland in California last week, and now Tropical Storm Idalia is expected to affect Disney World this week. Just a few days ago Florida Governor Ron DeSantis declared a State of Emergency.
This week will no doubt be a rainy week for guests visiting Florida and Walt Disney World. Prepare with ponchos or rain gear, stroller covers, and a flexible plan during the wetter seasons. This is especially true during the summer and hurricane season.
Update from Walt Disney World
Idalia is not a hurricane yet, but that doesn’t mean it doesn’t have time to become one before hitting Florida. A hurricane watch has just been issued for Florida – from Tampa to the panhandle on the west coast.
Right now, Tropical Storm Idalia is moving northeast but is not expected to make landfall in Florida until late Tuesday/early Wednesday.
Walt Disney World posted the following statement today, August 28th at 3:00 pm: “Walt Disney World Resort is currently operating under normal conditions. We are closely monitoring the path of the projected weather as we continue to prioritize the safety of our guests and Cast Members.”
At this time park operational hours remain unchanged. Be sure to check out the full details of Disney’s cancellation policy HERE which includes Theme Parks, Resorts, and Disney Cruise Line as well.

We will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates if operational hours and policies are affected due to the inclement weather.
